Silent Hill: TownFall - Everything You Need to Know About Konami’s Upcoming Game

Hey horror fans, the fog is rolling in thicker than ever! Just weeks ago, on February 12, 2026, Konami dropped the bombshell reveal for Silent Hill: Townfall during PlayStation's State of Play and a dedicated Silent Hill Transmission livestream. After a cryptic 2022 teaser that left us hanging for years, we're finally getting a proper look at this psychological chiller.

If you're like me, you've been dying for more Silent Hill since the remake hype. Townfall promises to deliver that signature dread in a fresh package. Let's dive into everything you need to know – from the release date rumors to gameplay breakdowns, story teases, and platforms.

A Quick History of Silent Hill: TownFall

Townfall hails from Scotland's Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code, the indie studio behind Observation and Stories Untold). It's co-published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive (think Stray). Announced in October 2022 as part of Konami's Silent Hill revival push – alongside the SH2 remake and other projects – it faced delays but emerged stronger with Unreal Engine 5 powering its eerie visuals.

The small team drew inspiration from Scotland's misty coastal villages like St. Monans for the setting, emphasizing "imperfect old technology" in their rebrand to Screen Burn. Writer/director Jon McKellan channels Silent Hill 2's themes of guilt and loss, but with a first-person twist for maximum immersion.

Story: A New Nightmare on St. Amelia

Set in 1996 Scotland, you play as Simon Ordell, a man mysteriously drawn back to the fog-shrouded island of St. Amelia to "put things right." Simon wakes up on the docks with nothing but an IV bag, a medical wristband, and fragmented memories. The town seems abandoned... but it's very much alive with horrors.

As you venture deeper, guided by eerie voices from a scavenged CRTV device, buried traumas surface. Expect psychological twists, tragedy, and that classic Silent Hill vibe of personal hell manifesting in the environment.

Gameplay: First-Person Survival Horror Done Right

Townfall is a full-length, self-contained first-person experience – ditching the series' traditional third-person for direct-eye terror. Core loop:

- Exploration: Richly detailed, foggy coastal town with tactile interactions.

- Puzzles: Narrative-driven and intricate – pay attention to details!

- Combat & Stealth: Frenetic melee/ranged fights or tense evasion. Enemies hunt dynamically using senses; distract, hide, peek around corners, or run.

- CRTV Device: The star gadget! This pocket TV evolves the iconic radio – tune into static for threat detection, story clues, and navigation. VHS-style signals reveal hidden truths.

 Release Date and Platforms

2026 is the official window – no exact day yet, but preorders are live on PS Store, Steam, Epic, Amazon, etc. (with Dec 31 placeholders).

Platforms: PS5 (console exclusive at launch) and PC (Steam/Epic). No Xbox or Switch mentions – sorry, Series X owners.

Final Thoughts

Townfall feels like a bold evolution: Indie heart, Konami polish, Annapurna flair. Producer Motoi Okamoto promises it "retains the feeling of Silent Hill" while standing alone. With SH2 Remake out and more on the horizon, 2026 could be the year horror comes home.
